How Can Problem-Solving Skills Be Useful?
They provide you with a systematic approach to assessing, analyzing, evaluating, and resolving a problem or a challenge.
Oftentimes, in the course of problem-solving, the skills even enable you to discover opportunities hidden within the “problem areas”.
Not only that, the skills can even help you to pinpoint potential problems that are not at all obvious at the beginning or likely to surface in the future.
Two of my most favorite problem-solving skillsets [I have had acquired them back in the early 80s-90s when I was a manager] are:
· the Kepner-Tregoe method (founded by consultants Charles Kepner and Benjamin Tregore in the early sixties);
· the CPS (Creative Problem Solving) method of the Creative Education Foundation (founded by advertising executive Adam Osborne and educator Sidney James in the 1950s);
